Erection Fitter / Steel Structure Installer (On-Site)

Job Overview

SAPE Steel SRL is looking for a reliable and experienced Erection Fitter to join our on-site installation team for steel structure projects. The role involves assembling, fitting, aligning, and installing structural steel components according to technical drawings, site instructions, and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has practical experience in steel erection, can read technical drawings, works well with installation teams, and understands the importance of quality, safety, and deadline compliance on site.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and assemble structural steel components on site according to drawings and project specifications.

• Read and interpret erection drawings, general arrangement drawings, connection details, and installation plans.

• Align, level, and fit steel members before final fixing.

• Prepare components for bolting, fitting, and site adjustment.

• Work with cranes, lifting teams, and supervisors during erection activities.

• Check dimensions, position, and tolerances during installation.

• Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment safely and correctly.

• Support site modifications when required, always in line with approved instructions.

• Report installation issues, missing parts, drawing discrepancies, or site clashes to the supervisor or project manager.

• Maintain a safe and organized work area and follow all HSE requirements.

• Work closely with welders, riggers, supervisors, and other site personnel to complete erection works efficiently.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience as an Erection Fitter, Steel Erector, or in a similar on-site steel installation role.

• Good understanding of structural steel erection and fitting procedures.

• Ability to read and follow technical and fabrication/erection drawings.

• Experience with bolted steel connections, alignment, leveling, and fitting.

• Familiarity with safe working practices on construction or industrial sites.

• Ability to work at height when required.

• Good physical condition and ability to work in demanding site environments.

• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

• Responsible, disciplined, and punctual.

• Willingness to travel for projects if needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in industrial buildings, warehouses, platforms, halls, or heavy steel structures.

• Basic welding knowledge for fitting support purposes.

• Experience using MEWPs, lifts, or other site access equipment.

• Valid site safety certifications or training.

• Crane/signaler/rigging awareness is an advantage.

• Driving license category $B$.

• Romanian and/or English communication ability; additional languages are a plus.
